Our goal is to educate the public about the ongoing issue of gender equality, which still effects the EU in more ways than one. Trought you will create a better understanding of the topic throughour articles on the History of the issue, the challenges that women face in the EU, the ongoing battle to shrink the pay gap, the most affected countries, and our final goal. In addition to our articles, you will also find interviews featuring everyday people and their opinions, but also political figures expressing their thought on the matter, and our podcast where different ideas are discusses, by our experts. We hope that you will learn something new thanks to our work.

Understanding the gender pay gap in Europe
Research question; Are women in Europe effected by a gender pay gap?
The European parliament states that; “Working women in the EU earn on average 12% less per hour than men” (European Parliament, n.d.). The European Parliament divines the gender pay gap as the difference in average gross hourly earnings between women and men (European Parliament, n.d.). There is not one reason for the existence of the pay gap between genders, there are many. Variables like responsibilities, stereotypes or discrimination have influence on this matter. The European Parliament also states that men often hold positions with higher pay than women in a given sector. The European Parliament calculated the gender pay gap by country and in EU as a whole. As you can see in the picture below, the pay gap differs widely per Member state.
